Esio Trot by: Roald Dahl

Isaac Ho's book review

This story is about a little tortoise named Alfie. Its owner was a widow named Mrs Silver. She wanted Alfie to grow bigger. One day, Mrs Silver was talking to Mr Hoppy her neighbour and she asked him how to make Alfie grow bigger.

Mr Hoppy gave her a piece of paper, it read "Esio Trot, Esio Trot ...". Mr Hoppy told her that it was written backwards. He told her to read it to Alfie three times a day. Mr Hoppy went to every petshops in town to find similar tortoises but 2 ounces more than Alfie's weight. He lowered a new tortoise by the end of each week to Mrs Silver's garden. By the end of the seventh week, it weighed 27 ounces which was twice of Alfie's weight. One afternoon, Mrs Silver invited Mr Hoppy to her house because Alfie grew bigger, so he asked Mrs Silver to marry him.

And a few week later they got married and lived happily ever after. And as for Alfie, he was bought by a little girl called Roberta.

I like this book as it is interesting and has a very happy ending.
